Religious Education for Children & Youth
|
Expectations for Classroom Behavior:
- Be respectful of teachers and classmates.
- Take turns listening and talking.
- Take part in the lesson and activities planned for the day.
- Feel free to share your opinions with the group.
- Follow the classroom teacher’s instructions.
- Be respectful of differing opinions and
religious values.
Discipline Policy
Our Discipline Policy follows the premise that appropriate behavior is a
must in order to create a proper learning environment for all
participants. If a young person is disruptive in class, after a
discussion with the child or youth, classroom volunteers may use this
three-step process:
- The child or youth is asked to join the Religious Education Director in her office for the remainder of the hour. Discussion with the classroom teacher, RE Director, and young person will follow, and the Director will contact the parents or guardians
- The child or youth is taken to join his/her family in the sanctuary.
- The child or youth is asked to refrain from attending the Religious Education program for the remainder of the month. The parents or guardians, the RE Director, and young person will meet to discuss options for solving the problem behavior. When the child or youth returns to the Religious Education program for the first time, the parent or guardian will stay in the class.
The Religious Education Council hopes that all families will have the opportunity to discuss these guidelines. Should you have any questions regarding the guidelines, please feel free to contact the Director of Religious Education, or any member of the RE Council.
