| Welcome from the UUCS Ministerial Search Team |
We’re delighted that you’re
interested in learning more about our church community. The Unitarian
Universalist Church of Spokane is a truly wonderful place, as you will see here
on the Ministerial Search site. We have
a collective spirit that is very special, and we look forward to sharing that
spirit with a new senior minister. We
also anticipate and welcome the goals, viewpoints and energy that a new minister
will bring to our congregation. We hope that this call results in a holy,
mutually fulfilling connection for both our new minister and our church family.
If you have any questions concerning
the content of our site or need clarification, do not hesitate to contact the
chair of our committee, Cindy Phillips, at either cindyphillips@centurytel.net or at (509) 235-6455 (home) (509) 991-9669

I am 53
years old, and have been a member of the Spokane UU Church for 20 years.
My husband Jeff and I are the proud but broke parents of three college
students. By day I teach six and seven year olds how to read, write, and
affect change in their world. The rest of the time I am an active UU
evangelist. I’ve served my local congregation as Director of Religious
Education, as the team leader for Membership, the Community Activities Team
(CAT), the Team on Ministry, and Camp Starwheel. I’m especially
passionate about denominational affairs, having attended a dozen or so annual
meetings in the PNWD and six General Assemblies. I served on the district
Religious Education Committee for three years. Currently, I am the chair
of the Search Team

I am 62 years old and retired from the federal
government. My wife, Nancy, and I became
members of this church in 1983. I have participated
in, and chaired, numerous church committees and teams, taught RE, and have been
on the Board of Trustees three times. If
not for my love for cheese burgers, I could easily become a Buddhist. At the present time I consider myself a
secular pagan.

I’m 54 and have been a member of the church since
1987. I was divorced 15 years ago and the friendship of people in the
church was a great support to me as a single parent. My two daughters are
out on their own now, and I credit much of their success to their grounding at
the UU church of Spokane.
I’ve worked as a community health educator for
Planned Parenthood for the past five years. Teaching OWL at the church
has probably been my most impactful experience. In fact it was what led
me to my work - my vocation.
I’m a humanist with a touch of the
spiritual. Being part of this search team has offered me an opportunity
to give back to the church I love and get to better know my fellow teammates.

I learned
of the UU Church from a history professor during college in the 60s. Over the years I have attended and been a
member of a number of UU churches on both coasts. As a member of the Spokane congregation, I
chaired the Chapel Construction Committee, am a member of the Endowment Fund
Committee, and now the Search Committee. My career background includes work for a
number of national firms as an Industrial Designer and Facility planner. I also have experience as a consultant and
small business owner. Currently, I am
retired from BOEING and enjoy painting watercolors, downhill skiing and spending
time in our local outdoor wonderland.

I have been a
member of the UU Church of Spokane since 1989. I grew up in the Episcopalian
faith, but began to question my beliefs while I was in college.
The fine music
drew me into the doorway of a UU Church, and the opportunity to explore and question
have kept me here. These days I describe myself as a rational
mystic—particularly interested in plumbing the world of Process Theology.
I am a poet and
creative writing teacher. I have an MA in psychology from Antioch
University-Seattle. I have two grown daughters and a garden.

I have been a member of the UUCS since 2003. I am an elementary school principal and my
wife Heidi is a social worker, so it should come as no surprise that issues
around education and social justice are important to us.
Heidi and I teach preschool and primary RE classes,
and we have found sharing our most fundamental values with our youngest members
to be a very rewarding experience. Our daughters Myah (age 11) and Emma (age 7)
also enjoy RE. Their favorite things
about church, aside from being with friends, are the Water Communion, Camp
Starwheel (the church’s family camp on Memorial Day weekend), and the annual
Christmas pageant.

| I joined the UUCS in 1991 with my husband, Craig
Aldworth. However, I was only active
with the church for a short while. We
returned in approximately 2000 to provide religious education for our son,
Tyler (born in 1994).
I have been involved in RE council, teaching RE and on the Camp Starwheel
committee since returning to the church.
I work as a Physical Therapist in a home health setting.
